Dr. Karina Pombo Garcia

Karina Pombo-Garcia is a group leader on “Molecular Organization of Cell Interfaces” at the Franklin and a visitor group leader at the Dunn School of Pathology at University of Oxford and part of Pembroke College. Her lab investigates the molecular assembly of cell interfaces in the epithelial tissue and in pathology of intestinal diseases. She did a Postdoc in cell biology and biophysics at the Max Planck of Cell Biology and Genetics in Germany and a PhD in Chemistry at the Helmholz Zentrum and Monash University in Australia. Karina started her scientific career at the university of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia where she is originally from.

Dr. Julian Pietsch

Julian is currently developing high-performance quantitative image processing methods to investigate cell-cell interfaces in the group. He aims to pair deep learning with custom microscopy workflows to take super-resolution STED imaging to the next level. Julian did a postdoc at the Max Planck in Germany and previously a PhD in Adelaide Australia where he is originally from.

Dr. Roman Fedoryshchak

Roman is a senior postdoc working on new chemical biology methods for imaging biomolecules in adhesion. Previously, he did a postdoc at the Crick and PhD in Chemical Biology from Imperial College London. He started his scientific career at Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in Ukranie where he is originally from.

Soumadipta Mazumdar

Soumadipta is a Research Assistant developing genetic modifications in epithelia cells and culturing complex organoids. He holds a Master from King’s London and previously worked as an RA at the Crick handling Stem cells and flow cytometry Soumo started his scientific career in Bangalore India. He is originally from Kolkata, India.

Dimitrios Ioannidis

Dimitrios is a PhD student between the Franklin and University of Oxford studying how junctions shape gut in human organoids and tissues. He is part of Linacre College. He holds a Mres Newcastle in microbiology and biochemistry. Dimitrios started his scientific career in Greece where he is originally from.

Xuemeng Chen

Xuemeng is a PhD between the Franklin and the university of Edimburgh and her project aims to explore a novel aspect of cell biology and biophysics by visualising the condensate dynamics and structure across the membrane in epithelia cells. She holds a master from UCL in structural biology. She started her career in China where she is originally from.

Rebecca Hobbs

Rebecca is a PhD student between the Franklin and University of Oxford focusing on quantitative biology and soft matter physics of cell adhesion in epithelia. She is part of St Edmund’s Hall College. She holds a Master in developmental biology at University of Warwick, in UK where she is originally from.
